Fertiliser

Fertiliser Rates

The figures quoted on the bag -
Nitrogen% : Phosphorus% : Potassium%

Eg. 10:20:20 contains:

10% Nitrogen, 20% Phosphorus, 20% Potassium

Application rates are quoted in "Kg/ Ha", a bag of fertiliser normally weighs 50Kg

Therefore:

5 bags per Ha of the above fertiliser would give:
25Kg/Ha of Nitrogen
50Kg/Ha of Phosphorus
50Kg/Ha of Potassium

The imperial units for fertiliser application were "units"

One unit = % composition x the no. of bags per acre applied

Therefore:

2 bags per acre of the above fertiliser would give:
20 units of Nitrogen
40 units of Phosphorus
40 units of Potassium

As there are approximately 2.5 acres to the hectare

1 unit per acre = 1.25Kg/Ha
